Three Poems

The spinning wheel keeps turning—

Clinging, craving speed its course.

The longing heart cries out in pain

‘Til suffering’s cause is clearly seen.

The master’s words are true:

The only way—complete surrender.

In humility and reverence I kneel.

My True Refuge is found

And heart overflows with love

For That which is greater than self.

             (August, 2007)

 

  

What is more important?

  To have strength of body, or

  To have strength of will?

 

  To hear the voices of others, or

  To hear the Voice of the Eternal?

 

  To see clearly, or

  To see that All is One, and One is All?

 

              (September, 2007:  a teaching given
with the acceptance of the diminishing of
strength, hearing and sight in old age.)
